CNC Cutting
Our CNC Routers are perfect for Cutting Sheets such as MDF we pretty much cut this material every day, with our CNC routers we can program them to cut MDF to size or shape, engrave, drill, carve, chamfer any design or pattern for large and small orders all with pin point accuracy and repeatability all the time maximizing materials so there is little to no waste
MDF is made by chemical compression of tiny wooden particles and fibres.
MDF comes in 6 main variations:

Mdf comes in a great range of sheet sizes from 8x4 right up to jumbo sheets of 2x3m its also has a good ranges of material thickness from 3mm up to 30mm thick.

​HDF is the same except it has a much denser core than MDF and its moisture resistance treatment will give the material a longer lifespan and may prevent it from warping and swelling.

You’d be surprised to know that pretty much most of your home furniture is made of MDF how days or a slight variation of it such as plywood or chipboard.

​We have an excellent and very experience design team that can help and advise on the most suitable variation of MDF material based on your budget and purpose.

There are different purposes for MDF that include domestic and commercial uses. Over the past 20+ years we have made thousands of products all from MDF so machining it is like second nature to us.
​There is a number of key points when cutting MDF to get the perfect finish, things like the correct tooling, the correct feeds and speeds, the correct hold even how MDF is stored all have a big impact on how the product or components will come out after CNC Routering so make sure you choose the best and That’s trade made we are a cut above the rest.
CNC Cut plywood
As well as MDF and other sheet based materials we cut Plywood on a daily bases especially Birch Plywood this is an excellent material as it has the appearance of real wood with a lovely grained surface on the top and bottom of the sheet but unlike other cheaper forms of plywood it has a really solid core right through with little to no gaps between the layers in the sheet. This is very important as plywood is made up of a number of thin sheet layers all glued together, in cheaper plywood’s you find that there is a lot of gaps between the layers which can be very bad for cnc cutting.

Machining Birch Plywood Top Tip
If you machine Birch Plywood correctly it will leave an excellent finished edge to your components with a lovely tight wood grain this correctly machine edge will require little too no more work for finishing however if it’s not cut correctly it leaves a very rough edge which is very hard to fix and requires a lot of sanding to fix. To machine this lovely material right it requires so important factors like correct tolling speed and feeds, hold down but most importantly when it comes to machining Birch plywood you use the correct supplier which is us nobody in Ireland has being doing this longer or better than Trade Made

Timber
As well as all the variations in sheet cutting we also do a lot of timber cutting on our CNC Routers, timber has 2 main categories hardwood to softwoods. Hardwoods like Oak and beach are what they sound like Hard this means they come from slow growing trees which makes them pretty hard and can easily split if not machined right, softwoods such as pine and cedar come from quick growing trees and unlike hardwood they are less likely to split but their grain is not as tight.

Timbers come in many grades, colours and densities depending on what you need done the correct choice of timber is essential. Here at trade made we have over 23 year’s experience in cutting all types of timber in hardwood and softwood we have being dealing with local and nationally joiners and cabinet makers for years so we have seen and CNC cut everything in the brilliant and natural resource.

First of use the right people and source the right materials for your application, this is essential we have had to fix loads of other CNC suppliers mistakes people just using sub average routeing companies. Timber cutting on CNC Can be very tricky especially with hardwoods like oak it is pretty specialised so make sure you use the right people like us that’s if you want it right doing a job twice is not professional so choose wisely here.

​Another top tip make sure you finish the timber correctly depending on your application the correct finish on timber is essential it can either make the wood last a lifetime of ruin it if unsure give us a call we will help you out . Timber we cut regularly​.
